IN THE "EXPANDED FIELD"
Genius Loci is a body of works employing unconventional materials such as gathered leaf litter, wax and large amounts of poured enamel.

Though traditional ideas of painting inform my thought processes, material choices such as large limbs and neon tubing mimic large brushstrokes within compositions.

Statement - Genius Loci

I am interested in the ways in which the man-made and the natural both reject and inform each other. Natural textures, colors, and phenomena stand out against and act upon the geometric and ordered urban space. As urban areas constantly develop, boundaries form where natural and human-made spaces come together. I am interested in this ever-changing delineation and the subtle moments of interaction between the two. Employing traditional painterly materials and collected natural-objects as materials for making, I bring viewers into a contemporary conversation that explores painting in the expanded field.
